RESPONSIBLE PLAY

Wecap responsible play — boundaries that protect the desk

Wecap operates under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025. This page is the responsible-play boundary the desk publishes alongside every matchday read.

FOUNDATION

Six rules that hold the boundary

The desk treats responsible play as a hard rule, not a footnote.

  1. 1
    18+

Wecap is restricted to adults aged 18 and above. KYC enforces age verification before the first deposit.

  2. 2
    Deposit limits

Set a deposit limit at sign-up. Raise it only after 30 days of active play, with a cool-down step in between.

  3. 3
    Session timer

Use the in-app session timer. Fantasy cricket rewards clear-headed decisions; breaks keep the desk honest.

  4. 4
    State rules

Verify your state before deposit. Several Indian states restrict paid fantasy contests — see /is-legal/.

  5. 5
    Self-exclusion

Self-exclusion is one tap in the wallet menu. Cool-down periods run from 24 hours to permanent.

  6. 6
    Help

Reach the responsible-play desk via in-app chat or email. External support lines are linked at the bottom of this page.

FRAMEWORK

The legal framework for responsible play

The PROG Act, 2025 sets out a national framework for online gaming responsibility. Wecap implements it as a hard rule.

VERIFICATION
KYC at every deposit

Identity verification runs at sign-up, at the first deposit and at any withdrawal request above the standard cap. Verification is mandatory under the PROG Act, 2025.

LIMITS
Deposit & session caps

Wecap defaults every account to a daily deposit cap and a session timer. Users can lower limits immediately; raises require a 30-day cool-down.

EXCLUSION
Self-exclusion

Self-exclusion is one tap in the wallet menu. Cool-down periods run from 24 hours to permanent. Reactivation requires a verified cooling-off period.

LIMITS

Setting and changing deposit limits

Wecap defaults every account to a daily deposit cap. Users can lower the cap immediately; raises require a 30-day cool-down. The setup is one tap in the wallet menu.

  1. 1
    Open the wallet menu

The wallet menu is in the bottom navigation on mobile or the top-right corner on the web desk.

  2. 2
Tap Responsible play > Deposit limit

The deposit limit screen shows the current daily, weekly and monthly caps. The default caps are visible alongside any user-set values.

  3. 3
    Lower the cap

Lower the cap with a slider or numeric input. Lowering applies immediately, no cool-down required.

  4. 4
    Raise the cap

Raising the cap requires a 30-day cool-down from the request date. The system reminds you at request and at the cool-down expiry.

SELF-EXCLUSION

Self-exclusion periods, in detail

Wecap supports four self-exclusion periods. The shorter ones are designed for short breaks; the longer ones are designed for genuine cool-down.

READER QUESTIONS

Reader questions about responsible play on Wecap

Reader questions sent to the desk in the last quarter, answered in editorial voice. Send yours via /contact/.

How do I know if my play has stopped feeling like analysis?

The desk publishes a five-question self-check. If you answer yes to three or more, the responsible-play desk is reachable via the wallet menu. Five questions cover the surface.

What if a friend asks me to lend them my login?

Don't. Accounts are non-transferable. Sharing login credentials is a violation of the terms; the desk may suspend the account. If a friend needs help, point them at /how-to-play/ instead.

Can I set a session timer that locks me out?

Yes. The session timer in the wallet menu can be set to lock you out after a configurable window. The lock applies to contest entry; reading the editorial column remains available.

What happens if I self-exclude and a friend uses my account?

Self-exclusion locks the account for the chosen period. Any login attempt is blocked. If a friend has access to your device, they should not — the terms prohibit shared accounts.

Can I see my own play history?

Yes. The wallet menu shows contest history, deposit history and withdrawal history. The history is searchable by date, contest type and outcome.

SELF-CHECK

Five questions to ask yourself each month

The desk publishes a self-check that readers can run monthly. If you answer yes to three or more, the responsible-play desk is reachable via the wallet menu.

  1. 1
Have you deposited more than you planned this month?

If yes, lower your daily deposit cap. The wallet menu runs the change in under a minute.

  2. 2
Have you entered contests you wouldn't have entered a month ago?

If yes, look at the contest type, the entry fee, and the time of day. Are you chasing losses? If yes, the responsible-play desk can refer you to external support lines.

  3. 3
Has play started to affect other parts of your life?

If yes, set a session timer. The wallet menu runs the change immediately.

  4. 4
Have you lied to family or friends about your play?

If yes, the desk recommends self-exclusion and a conversation with an external support line.

  5. 5
Have you tried to recover losses by playing more?

If yes, stop now. Self-exclusion is one tap. The desk is reachable via in-app chat for referrals.

DEPOSIT CONTROLS

How the deposit cap works, in detail

The default deposit cap is ₹2,00,000 per day. Users can lower the cap with immediate effect; raises require a 30-day cool-down.

LOWERING

Lower the cap immediately

Open the wallet menu, tap Responsible play, then Deposit limit. Use the slider to set a lower daily cap. The change applies immediately; no cool-down required.

RAISING

Raise the cap with cool-down

Tap Raise limit on the same screen. The system schedules the raise for 30 days from the request date. You receive a reminder at the request and at the cool-down expiry.

RESET

Reset to default

Tap Reset to default. The cap returns to the operator default. The reset applies immediately; no cool-down required.

REAL-TIME ALERTS

What Wecap's responsible-play alerts look like

Wecap runs a real-time alert system that nudges users when their play pattern crosses certain thresholds. Three alert types fire today.

ALERT 1

Session length

If a session runs longer than 90 minutes, the app shows a soft alert suggesting a break. The alert is dismissable but visible.

ALERT 2

Deposit spike

If a deposit is more than 50% above the user's typical deposit, the app shows a confirmation prompt before the deposit settles.

ALERT 3

Loss chase

If the user enters three contests within 30 minutes after a contest loss, the app shows a soft alert suggesting a cool-down.

WHEN TO REACH OUT

When to reach out for help

The desk publishes this section so readers know when the responsible-play desk is the right next step.

  1. 1
    When self-exclusion feels overdue

If you've been thinking about self-exclusion for more than a week, the desk recommends activating it now. Self-exclusion is reversible; the alternative may not be.

  2. 2
When a deposit cap raise feels urgent

If you want to raise your deposit cap immediately, the 30-day cool-down exists for a reason. The desk recommends waiting.

  3. 3
    When family raises concerns

If a family member has raised concerns about your play, the desk recommends a conversation with an external support line first.

  4. 4
When play is affecting work or sleep

If play is affecting work, sleep or relationships, the desk recommends self-exclusion and a conversation with an external support line.

FAMILY

How to talk to family about your play

The desk publishes this section so readers have a starting point for a difficult conversation.

  1. 1
    Be honest

Honesty is the foundation. Share the deposit cap, the contest frequency, and the time spent on play.

  2. 2
    Show the limits

Show the deposit cap and the session timer. The limits are visible in the wallet menu; family members can verify.

  3. 3
    Agree on a review

Agree on a monthly review with a family member. The review covers the deposit history and the contest activity.

  4. 4
    Activate self-exclusion if needed

If the conversation goes hard, activate self-exclusion. The wallet menu runs the flow in under a minute.
