How to play fantasy cricket on Wecap
From sign-up to your first winning XI: KYC, deposit rails, contest types, the points matrix and the captain pick rationale. One working guide for the whole matchday flow.
Step 1 — Create your account
The sign-up flow takes less than five minutes. KYC adds another two hours during business hours.
- 1Tap Open Wecap
The play desk opens in any modern browser. No extension or app install is required.
- 2Enter your mobile number
Wecap uses the mobile number as the primary identifier. Foreign numbers are gated until KYC review is complete.
- 3Verify the OTP
The OTP is delivered by SMS and in-app push. Validity is five minutes; expired OTPs trigger a fresh send.
- 4Bind your device
First-time sign-ins prompt for a one-tap device binding. Subsequent logins skip this step on the same device.
- 5Apply the welcome code
Apply the active bonus code at sign-up if you have one. See /bonus-code/ for the current campaign.
Step 2 — KYC and your first deposit
Wecap requires KYC before the first withdrawal and before any paid contest settles. Deposits are open as soon as the wallet is funded.
Documents needed
- PAN card — front scan, clear of glare
- Aadhaar — front scan; back scan only if your Aadhaar uses the older format
- Bank account — for withdrawals, the holder name must match the PAN
- UPI handle — verified by a small credit-debit round-trip
Full KYC details at /wallet-kyc/.
How to deposit
- Open the wallet menu
- Tap Add funds
- Choose UPI, net-banking or card
- Minimum deposit is ₹100
- Bonus funds apply to the deposit if a code is applied at sign-up
Step 3 — Build your XI
The XI build is the core of the matchday flow. Use the editorial desk's picks or build your own — both routes are valid.
- 1Choose a contest
Mega, head-to-head or practice. Mega contests carry the highest prize pool; head-to-head contests are 1v1.
- 2Pick your 11 within the 100-credit cap
Spend 100 credits across 11 players. Pick three premiums, one wicket-keeper, three bowlers, three batters and one all-rounder.
- 3Choose captain and vice-captain
Captain earns 2× points; vice-captain earns 1.5×. Read the daily captain pick desk before locking.
- 4Save the lineup
Save your XI before the toss. The contest window closes with the first ball.
- 5Track live
The contest engine scores your XI ball-by-ball. Withdrawals post after the match and the contest settle.
Step 4 — Pick the right contest
Different contests reward different strategies. The desk breaks down the trade-offs.
| Lens | Mega | Head-to-head | Practice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prize pool | Highest | 1v1, fixed payout | No cash |
| Entry fee | ₹10 – ₹5,000 | ₹10 – ₹500 | Free |

| Bonus funds apply? | Yes | Yes | No |
| KYC required | Yes, before withdrawal | Yes, before withdrawal | Optional |
| Best for | Big upside | Skill duels | Captain pick practice |
Step 5 — Read the points matrix
The points matrix is published per format. The T20 default powers most Wecap contests; the ODI, Test and T10 matrices live at /points-system/.
| Action | Points | Notes | Cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Run scored | +1 | Per run | — |
| Boundary bonus | +4 | Per four hit | — |

| Vice-captain multiplier | 1.5× | On entire points total | — |
Duck-out and fielding caps apply per the full matrix on /points-system/.
Step 6 — Withdraw your winnings
Wecap withdrawals post via UPI once KYC clears. Bank transfers take 1–3 banking days depending on the issuing bank.
- 1Open the wallet menu
Withdrawals live in the wallet menu. KYC must be cleared first.
- 2Enter the amount
Minimum withdrawal is ₹100. Maximum is the available balance minus reserved bonus funds.
- 3Choose UPI or bank
UPI posts fastest; bank transfers take longer but support larger amounts.
- 4Track the post
Withdrawal history is searchable by contest ID and timestamp.
The matchday flow in six steps
The matchday flow runs from the captain pick desk post (09:00 IST) to the contest settle (typically within 30 minutes of the match result). Six steps cover most matchdays.
- 1Read the captain pick desk
The desk posts C/VC rationale at 09:00 IST on matchday minus one. Use it as one input among many.
- 2Choose a contest
Mega, head-to-head or practice. Mega contests carry the highest prize pool; head-to-head is 1v1.
- 3Build the XI
Spend 100 credits across 11 players. Anchor three premiums, save for differentials. See /salary-cap-guide/.
- 4Pick C/VC
Captain earns 2×, VC earns 1.5×. Read the rationale matrix at /captain-pick-guide/.
- 5Save before the toss
The contest window closes with the first ball. Save and lock.
- 6Track live & withdraw
The contest engine scores your XI ball-by-ball. Withdrawals post after the match and the contest settle.
Your first 30 days on Wecap
A four-week roadmap for the first month on Wecap. The roadmap is opinionated; readers who prefer a different rhythm should follow the editorial column instead.
Complete KYC. Read the captain pick desk daily. Build your first XI in a practice contest — no cash, no pressure, just the mechanics.
Enter head-to-head contests at the minimum entry fee. Treat the first paid contests as a paid practice round.
Move into mega contests at the lower entry tier. Read the verified winners ledger to see what actually pays out.
Audit your own picks against the methodology colophon. Where did the desk agree with you? Where did it differ? Build your own criteria from the comparison.
Reader questions about how to play on Wecap
Reader questions sent to the desk in the last quarter, answered in editorial voice. Send yours via /contact/.
Can I edit my XI after the toss?
No. The XI is locked at the toss. The only post-lock change is the swap of a player for an eligible substitute on the bench, if you set one.
Can I enter the same contest with multiple lineups?
Yes, depending on the contest. Mega contests allow multiple entries; head-to-head contests are 1v1. The contest details screen lists the entry limit.
Can I share my XI with friends?
Yes. Wecap lineups are shareable via a private link. The link reveals the lineup but not the contest entry. Sharing is one tap from the contest screen.
What happens if my contest is cancelled?
The entry fee is refunded to the original payment rail. Bonus turnover does not unlock. The desk publishes contest cancellation reasons in the wallet menu.
Can I enter contests in INR other than the rupee?
No. Wecap contests run in INR only. International currencies are not supported under the PROG Act, 2025 framework.
What the contest screen tells you
The contest screen lists every detail you need before entering. Five fields are critical.
- 1Entry fee
The amount you pay to enter. Bonus funds apply if you have an active bonus balance.
- 2Prize pool
The total amount available to winners. The prize pool is fixed before the contest starts.
- 3Number of entries
How many other users have entered. Mega contests can run into the thousands; head-to-heads are capped at two.
- 4Max entries per user
The cap on multiple lineups. Some mega contests allow 1 entry per user; others allow up to 11.
- 5Contest type
Mega, head-to-head, practice or winner-takes-all. The contest type determines the payout structure.
Building your first XI, step by step
A first XI can feel overwhelming. The desk breaks it down into six steps.
- 1Pick a contest
Start with a practice contest — free to enter, no cash. The mechanics are identical to paid contests.
- 2Choose a wicket-keeper first
The wicket-keeper is the easiest anchor. Pick a keeper who is in form and plays in the top 6.
- 3Anchor three premiums
Two batters and one all-rounder cover most point ceilings. The fourth premium is where most teams break their cap.
- 4Save 6-8 cr for differentials
Two cheap bowlers in form can win a contest when the premium captain fails. The differential column is your upside insurance.
- 5Pick C/VC
Captain earns 2×, VC earns 1.5×. Read the captain pick rationale matrix at /captain-pick-guide/.
- 6Save and lock
Save your XI before the toss. The contest window closes with the first ball.
