How to delete your Wecap account
Account deletion is one tap in the wallet menu. The step-by-step flow walks through what stays on file and what stays on file under the PROG Act, 2025.
Three steps to delete your account
The flow runs entirely inside the Wecap app or web desk. Customer care is not required.
- 1Open the wallet menu
The wallet menu lives in the bottom navigation on mobile, and in the top-right corner on the web desk.
- 2Tap Account > Delete account
Scroll to the Account section. The Delete account option sits below the change-password and biometric-toggle options.
- 3Confirm with OTP
The system sends a fresh OTP to your registered mobile number. Confirming the OTP deletes the account within 7 working days.
What we keep, and why
Three categories of record stay on file after account deletion, each under a regulatory requirement.
Identity verification
PAN, Aadhaar scan, liveness selfie — kept for 7 years under the PROG Act, 2025. Records are not used for marketing after deletion.
Deposit and withdrawal history
Transactions are retained for 7 years under anti-money-laundering rules. Account access is removed; the records remain auditable.
Contest entries and results
Contest IDs, entry timestamps and results are retained for 3 years under the PROG Act, 2025. Account access is removed.
Re-opening a deleted account
You can re-open the same mobile number after a 30-day cool-down. Re-opening runs KYC again; bonus funds do not carry over.
What happens to your wallet balance on deletion
Pending withdrawals clear before deletion completes. Bonus funds do not carry over; promotional balances expire. The desk walks you through the pre-deletion balance review.
What the desk verifies before deletion
- No pending withdrawals
- No unsettled contests
- No unused bonus balance (or you accept the forfeit)
- No unredeemed referral earnings
- No outstanding customer-care tickets
Deletion timeline
- T+0 · OTP confirms deletion request
- T+24h · Pre-check notifications sent
- T+7d · Account access removed
- T+90d · Cache purged from operational systems

Deletion vs self-exclusion — which to choose
Deletion is permanent (within the regulatory KYC retention window). Self-exclusion lets you return when ready. The desk helps you pick.
| Lens | Deletion | Self-exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| Permanent? | Yes, within KYC retention window | Reversible after cool-down |
| KYC required again on return? | Yes | No |
| Bonus funds carry over? | No | Yes |
| Best for | Definitive exit | Break with the option to return |
| Cool-down to re-enter | 30 days | 24h / 7d / 30d / permanent |
Reader questions about deleting a Wecap account
Reader questions sent to the desk in the last quarter, answered in editorial voice. Send yours via /contact/.
What if I delete my account while a contest is still running?
The desk holds the deletion until the contest settles. Any winnings are credited before deletion completes. If the contest is cancelled, your entry fee is refunded to the original payment rail before deletion.
What if I delete my account while a withdrawal is pending?
The desk holds the deletion until the withdrawal posts. Once posted, the funds are in your bank account. Bonus-derived balances follow the bonus turnover rules.
Can I delete just my KYC, not my account?
No. KYC is mandatory under the PROG Act, 2025 for any real-money platform. Account deletion is the only path; it removes your account access while retaining the KYC record for the regulatory retention window.
What happens to my referral code after deletion?
Your referral code becomes inactive at deletion. Pending referral bonuses do not settle after deletion. If you re-open the same mobile number after the cool-down, you get a fresh referral code with no carry-over earnings.
Does deletion affect my customer-care ticket history?
No. Customer-care tickets remain accessible to the desk for the regulatory retention window. Account access is removed; ticket history is retained for audit purposes.
What if I want to delete the account because of responsible-play concerns?
If play has stopped feeling like analysis, self-exclusion is faster than deletion and lets you return when ready. The wallet menu runs both flows. The responsible-play desk at /responsible-play/ can also refer you to external support lines.
Why Wecap enforces a 30-day cool-down to re-enter
The 30-day cool-down is a deliberate friction. The desk observed that users who delete and re-open within days are often acting under a momentary decision, not a long-term change. The cool-down turns deletion into a deliberate choice.
The 30-day cool-down applies to re-opening the same mobile number. After 30 days, the user runs KYC again — fresh document upload, fresh liveness check, fresh bank verification. Bonus funds do not carry over; contest history does not carry over; the editorial column is unchanged.
What does carry over is the verified mobile number and the regulatory framework. Wecap treats re-entry as a fresh account; the regulatory framework treats it as the same person. Both are correct.
Best practices before you delete
Three best practices reduce the chance of a regretted deletion.
- 1Withdraw pending funds first
Pending withdrawals clear before deletion completes. Initiate the withdrawal, wait for it to post, then start the deletion.
- 2Consider self-exclusion instead
If the reason for deletion is a break from play, self-exclusion is faster and reversible. The wallet menu runs both flows.
- 3Audit your KYC documents
If you intend to re-open under a different mobile number, the KYC documents will need to be re-submitted. Have them ready.
What happens if I change my mind after deletion
If you change your mind within 7 days of the deletion request, contact the desk. The deletion can be reversed within the 7-day window. After 7 days, the cool-down applies.
- 1Within 7 days
Contact the desk within 7 days of the deletion request. The deletion is reversed; the account is restored to its pre-deletion state.
- 27-30 days
After 7 days, the deletion is locked in. Re-opening requires a 30-day cool-down and a fresh KYC verification.
- 330+ days
After 30 days, re-opening is via the standard sign-up flow with the same mobile number. KYC must be re-submitted.
How to export your data before deletion
If you want a copy of your data before deleting, request a data export via the in-app wallet menu. The export covers identity, wallet, matchday activity and support history.
- 1Open the wallet menu
The wallet menu is in the bottom navigation on mobile or the top-right corner on the web desk.
- 2Tap Account > Data export
The Data export option sits below the change-password option. Tap to begin the request.
- 3Confirm with OTP
Confirm the request with an OTP. The desk prepares the archive within 7 working days.
- 4Download the archive
The desk emails a download link for the archive. The archive is available for 14 days.
